On Talkin Faith with Catholic Sis Episode 3: The Annunciation and Saying Yes to God & Godly Dating. I’m so glad you’re here! Welcome to “Talkin’ Faith with Catholic Sis!” I’m your host, Anela Nicholson, better known online as Catholic Sis. I’d also like you to please welcome my co-host Kent, who’s joining me to bring you tonight’s show, here on the Fiat Ministry Network. You won’t want to miss a thing, so stay right where you are.”
Opening Segment:
Hello! How’s it going? All set for Holy Week?
Transition: “Did you realize that as of yesterday, we are exactly nine months away from Christmas? You know, do the math – Christmas is in December.”
First Segment: The Annunciation and Saying Yes to God:
What was yesterday anyway?
Yesterday we celebrated the Feast of the Annunciation.
What is the Annunciation, and why is it so important?
The Annunciation celebrates Mary’s “yes” to God and His will. Sometimes we also hear that the Annunciation was Mother Mary’s “fiat.”
We’re on the Fiat Ministry Network – so does the name of the network have any correlation with the Annunciation?
So what are some instances where we might get the opportunity to say “yes” to God? Mary said yes every moment of every day.
Let’s backtrack a little, and talk a bit more about Mother Mary; she has so many holy and admirable attributes that it can be hard to find somewhere to start. Well, let’s take it slow, and talk about three main virtues of Mary.
Faithfulness: Mary was always faithful to God and to His will, as well as to her Son throughout His entire earthly life. What are some examples? [Wedding at Cana, the Crucifixion, Pentecost, etc.]
Obedience: Mary knew what living out her fiat would mean, and she didn’t refuse. Instead, she accepted it whole heartedly with humility and obedience; Mary loved God above all things, so she never disobeyed God. When might be some times when we get to show our obedience to God and His will?
We, along with the rest of the world are so lucky to have Mary for our Heavenly Mother, don’t you think?
Second Segment: 6 Tips for Godly Dating:
Intro topic – “So, depending on where you live, you may or may not be on Spring break this week. You might already be back to school, or possibly still waiting for break. But let’s say that while on break, you met a “special someone”? Now what do you do? Well, Kent and I are here to give you 6
Tips for a Godly Dating.
#1 – Take time to pray and discern God’s will, and leave room for God to work in you.
#2 – Lay out your beliefs and who you are.
#3 – Don’t put yourselves in harm’s way.
#4 – Don’t do anything that you’d be ashamed to have your priest see.
#5 – Be what you want to see in them.
Third Segment:
While on spring break, we might also make some new friends. Now while there are umpteen million people with advice, Kent and I are bringing you wisdom straight from God’s word. Here are four Bible verses that tell us how build strong and lasting friendships:
Luke 6:31 – “And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner.”
John 15:13 – “Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Proverbs 17:17 – “He that is a friend loveth at all times: and a brother is proved in distress.”
Romans 1:12 – “That is to say, that I may be comforted together in you, by that which is common to us both, your faith and mine.”
Don’t forget! If you are in need of prayer, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me! You can tweet prayer intentions or prayer requests to me on Twitter (@catholicsis) or send me a message on catholicsis.com
This week I’ve added many people to the prayer list, so join me in praying a Hail Mary for all those watching, as well as everyone on the prayer list.
Closing Segment:
Thank you to everyone who watched.
Make sure you join us next week when we continue to Talk Faith with Catholic Sis. For those of you who have asked, we will be talking about the true meaning of Easter, the Holy Triduum, as well as the million dollar question, “Why is Good Friday “good?” If you have questions through out the week, make sure you send them to me, and who knows, they might be on next week’s show?
Before I leave you for the night, please join me in praying the prayer of Catholic Sis.
Outro:
“Proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient.” Don’t forget, 2 Timothy 4:2 – Until next time keep talkin’ faith, and remember, Catholic isn’t something we are just once a week, it’s a way of life!”
